Andre S. Eriksen wins 2010 NorCal Masters Championship and Driver Of The Year Award
The annual Championship award banquet was held in Novato, CA Saturday November 6th. It was a great event where we had a chance to spend time with sponsors, friends, family and fellow racers in a nice setup with flashbacks from the 2010 season.
I obviously knew that I had won the championship as well as gotten 3rd place in the DD2 Championship but it was a pleasant surprise to learn that I had also won the Masters Driver Of The Year Award as well. I had hoped for it of course but was not sure until my name was announced. It was nice to be acknowledged for our hard work during the 2010 season.
Having an annual celebration event like this is a nice way to close off a season and although racing rarely is profitable I was able to walk away with not only 2 nice trophies and my name on the Driver Of The Year trophy I also won a weeks' stay in Mexico, a set of tires, 4 free race entries, Red Line oil and a CD with high resolution professional pictures from throughout the season.
Looking ahead towards the 2011 season I would like to step up a bit and do more national level races like Challenge Of The Americas with one race in Arizona and two in California. The Pan American Rotax Challenge with one race in California, one race in Colorado and one race in Indiana as well as the Rotax Grand Nationals, this time in Utah. Although it might be a stretch for what will only be my 3rd seasons but I will try to qualify for the Rotax World Finals in 2011.
Whether I will be able to race these series comes down my success in closing sponsorships. At this point I locked down a couple for 2011 and will spend the next few weeks on signing on more. This year I had 4 sponsors; Asetek, Corsair and Finnegan with RLC Racing signing on recently. I want to say thank you for your support in 2010 and hopefully see you again on the team in 2011.
To the remaining readers of my newsletters I would like to say thank you for following and supporting me in 2010 in an extremely successful season. Hopefully I will see you around in 2011!
